PERU: A FAMILY ADVENTURE AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATION
Led by Dr. Luis Jaime Castillo Butters
July 18-29, 2009
FAMILIES “DIG INTO HISTORY”

Imagine ancient Peru as your family's private outdoor playground. Together, you'll participate on an ancient archeological dig for treasured artifacts in San Jose de Moro, one of the most prolific pre-Columbian cemeteries on Peru's remote North coast near Chiclayo and Truhillo.

Dr. Luis Jaime Castillo leads family archeological digs in the field where his site, San Jose De Moro, is located. He will instruct participants on laboratory study technique and documentation of their discoveries. Families learn more of Peru's indigenous people's culture alive today through private visits to artists' communities, schools and music centers. And, to balance education with vacation, there's plenty of fresh air and family fun such as picnics and hikes.

This personalized tour provides engaging educational and entertainment experiences for parents and children age 8 and older. Children's programs supervised by youth educators and trained guides are kid-focused and fun. On site they will be divided into age-appropriate groups. Archeological students from the esteemed universities of Cambridge, Harvard, Bordeaux and Sevilla Universities that Dr. Castillo has collaborated with on Moche Period explorations, assist him in leading youth activities. Adult programming includes lectures and exclusive cultural exchanges. You'll dine with his team, visit ancient Inca homes, discover Cuzco school of art on a walking safari, explore private museums, meet textile and pottery artists in their studios and visit the world renowned archaeological site of Machu Picchu.
